My Facial Reset following surgery

My Facial Reset following surgery
2 weeks ago today I had a hysterectomy, stayed in hospital for 2 nights, and then came home to start the long recovery journey. It took until today to summon up the energy to take the time to do a proper facial reset …
Ø Why did it need to take 2 weeks of feeling unwell, rough, nauseous and generally rubbish to get me to this point?!
Ø Why do we all wait until we are on our knees to book that spa day, put time aside for a pamper, and generally focus on ourselves?!
What prompted me?
I had an appointment yesterday with an amazing physiotherapist who ran through my recovery to date with me. I mentioned that I had suffered from terrible nausea and dizziness while taking an opiate drug prescribed to me after the operation, and had to stop taking it. She suggested that as my body is used to natural food and my skin only has natural products put on it, my body just couldn’t take the overload of the opiate.
Game on! If my body wants more natural then I am going to give it more natural 😊
So, Why do we need a Facial Reset?
Cleansing isn’t just about removing makeup or the obvious grime. Every day, your skin is exposed to pollution, airborne toxins, sweat, excess oil, and product buildup. Even if you can’t see them, they’re there—and over time, they can clog pores, cause breakouts, accelerate aging, and leave your skin looking lackluster.
When we cleanse with natural products, we’re not just washing away the dirt—we’re helping the body eliminate substances it sees as foreign or harmful. Our skin is the largest organ in our body, and it’s constantly trying to balance itself. A gentle, plant-powered cleanse supports that process instead of disrupting it.
How do I reset my facial skin?
Here’s the secret: the Facial Reset is all about cleansing basics. Facial cleansing will help your skin’s microbiome (yes, your face has its own little ecosystem!) more than anything else … with maybe the exception of drinking plenty of water.
4 easy steps:
- Wash your face with a Facial Cleansing Bar that has only natural oils and butters and kaolin clay. This will remove dirt and make up, but not dry your skin out. If you have been wearing make up, you may want to just wipe any residual marks away afterwards with a Facial Cleansing Oil.
- Apply your Kaolin Clay mask using white kaolin clay (best for delicate facial skin and sensitive skin) that will absorbing excess oil, unclog pores, and provide gentle exfoliation to promote a clearer, smoother complexion. I buy my white kaolin clay from The Soapery – you can add other oils and ingredients like honey to it, but just mixing the clay with water to make a paste works perfectly well. Leave the clay on until it has dried (usually about 20 minutes) and then wash off with warm water and pat dry.
- You can now replenish your skin’s natural oils with a Cleansing Balm: massage just a small amount (1/2 teaspoon) into your skin, paying attention to the delicate skin around the eyes (Cucumber Seed Oil helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles), and focus on any other dry skin areas. Leave on for 20 mins or so so that all the natural oils and vitamins can soak down into the top layer of your skin. Then gently wipe with a warm wash cloth.
- (Optional) Apply 4 – 8 drops of a natural Facial Serum. Formulated to deeply nourish and hydrate, helping to improve skin elasticity, even out skin tone and improve overall skin texture and radiance, this oil-based serum is absorbed into the skin on a deeper level which means it works hard to treat your skin.
Your Facial Reset makes your skin and you feel like skincare should feel. Soft, nurturing, grounding.
